The Senior Management Team

Chris Spencer

Following a career in aircraft and helicopter maintenance/maintenance management with the British Army from 1980-1992, Chris joined a Glasgow based Regional Airline as a Quality and Technical Services Engineer carrying out continuing airworthiness and cost of ownership activities on a 7 aircraft type operation numbering 26 aircraft. In 1998 following a partial management buy out, he left as Deputy Quality Manager having been selected to head up a new maintenance operation supporting the airline. Obtaining JAR(Part) 145 approval within the first month, he went on to develop the maintenance and support organisation from inception to a fleet of 4 aircraft types numbering 20 aircraft, combined staff of 60 and an airline turnover of £45 million up in 7 years. Having realised that the regulatory changes instigated under EASA Part M would have made the previous development of an airline more difficult and costly, and with the experience gained in 7 years of airline development, Chris believed there was an opportunity to support the wider aviation community with his hard won knowledge and experience, resigning in December 2005  to start up his own company.

Since starting Vector Aircraft Services with Andy McLaren in January 2006, the company has remained heavily involved with regional commercial operators throughout Europe and Africa, but has also spread into business jet, freight and sea plane operations. As the Accountable Manager for the Part M Sub Part G approved organisation , Chris in conjunction with his management team continue to have a passion and energy for developing  and expanding the business where appropriate, to the benefit of customers and staff alike.

Andy McLaren

Andy has been involved in aviation for the last 22 years since leaving school, progressing from manual technical records clerk to controlling a full department carrying out all technical records and maintenance planning functions, utilising a bespoke computer maintenance system. He is well versed in IT and specifically the computer maintenance system platform. A key member of the maintenance management team that developed in the airline environment, Andy left with Chris in Dec 2005 and as a Director, was and remains  instrumental in developing the strong foundations of the company. Growing to take on the challenges of running a business, Andy also remains responsible for all the Technical Administration operation, co ordinating cost effective maintenance and constantly developing the internal Vector operating systems.

Lisa Lawson

Having gained an Honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow, Lisa joined Loganair Limited, a regional operator based in Glasgow as a graduate Technical Services Trainee in 2002. Having successfully completed her 3 year training course, she became a valued member of the Technical Services team during a period of high growth covering all areas from reliability, cost of ownership through to power by the hour support. In Aug 2008 Lisa joined Vector as the Technical Services Manager responsible for all Technical aspects of Continuing Airworthiness and for developing the Technical support arm of the operation.

Promoted to the Director of Aircraft Audits he helped in attaining the companies Part M Sub Part G approval and implemented the installation of the OASES Aircraft Maintenance system,   a system he has worked on for nearly 20 years. He continues to support the software manufacturer as a contracted trainer for other airlines.  He joined Vector Aircraft Services early in 2011 as Planning & Projects Manager, utilising his experience and knowledge to continue to build Vector’s reputation as one of the leading independent Part M Sub Part G organisations.
